School’s In Session!

Honestly… top achievers never stop learning. So here we go!

A New Year!

That’s everyone’s focus. It comes with the date obviously. So what does that mean to you? New Year. New Goals. New Dreams.

Well, we are embracing on 365 days of what’s to come. It’s a chance to really layout your dreams, in writing, and start a plan of action.

Currently, I’m writing my first book which is basically a playbook (or tool kit) for parents and students to maximize their college experience without going into a ton of debt. It sounds impossible to some, I know. But I love to accept a challenge, and when I get passionate about finding a better way to do something that seems oh-so daunting…well, you get this blog and all that is to come from it!

One of the ways I’m going to accomplish sharing all I will with you is through a strong collaboration. I have a mastermind group that consists of my family, my great grandfather (who’s with me in spirit, but was an incredible businessman and social contributor), and a few key people that include an author, CEO, Speaker, and such. My research pool combines material I’ve read, along with interviews of both college students and parents who are searching for better ways.

What I’m going to deliver is a success manual for how to implement strategies, create habits and build a profile that is geared to helping you become the best YOU there is! This journal/playbook requires a decision. You won’t be left on the sidelines because you were afraid, or just didn’t know how, to take action. The only question is will you or won’t you get in the game? (Reminds me of High School Musical.)

Today, I had a lunch meeting with three very intelligent young ladies, who are all freshmen in college. One is my daughter, Sydney. (I’m a very proud mom!) The other two are friends of hers from high school. I asked for their help on my upcoming project, which ties into my book. I wanted to gain their thoughts, ideas and feedback. We had a great conversation. I walked away with very valuable information and they were grateful for the free meal, as most college kids are.

How you approach this time, whether it’s in college or not, will determine your big “start” in life as an adult. Learn what schools aren’t teaching you in order to WIN!

I encourage you to think big and dream bigger. My good friend, Albert, sums this first college success blog up well…

10 Amazing Life Lessons You Can (and should) Learn From Albert Einstein:

  1. Follow your curiosity.
  2. Perseverance is priceless.
  3. Focus on the present.
  4. The imagination is powerful.
  5. Make mistakes (often).
  6. Live in the moment.
  7. Create value every day.
  8. Don’t expect different results.
  9. Knowledge comes from experience.
  10. Learn the rules and then play better.

As we move forward, I welcome all thoughts and comments to help us grow well…together. It’s said that great minds think while drifters sink.  Top achievers know that whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve. This truth is even stated in the bible. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7

Let’s build a community of like-minded people (both students and parents) who are fun, determined and willing to share how they succeed during their college years, and beyond. As I tell my own kids, college is a blip in your life. It’s a stepping to stone to what you are called to do.  And you are ALL called to do great things.

It time to collaborate and share with one another, to help you create incredible success!

P.S. I’ve found so many moms who want to know how to help their kids. Let me know what you’d like to learn more about.

Cheers to you!
